It's still under construction but will be complete soon. I need to tweak a few things and get rid of the 39th parallel designation on the "Rules" page and replace the divisions with "Southern Climate States" and Northern Climate States." I also need to post minimum weights for species and species eligible. There will also be two photos posted for each winner. One of the angler with fish in photo and one with a tape measure or ruler next to the fish.

I'll also be adding a background etc. to the home page, and there are some things omitted that need to be added.

If you have any suggestions feel free to post them here. But please keep in mind I'm a K.I.S.S. kind of guy (Keep it Simple Stupid).

That's awesome. Will Kayla's 12 inch bluegill and my 31 inch striped bass hybrid not be eligible without the photo with fish on a ruler? I have witnesses to the measurements but I totally understand if that won't work. Rules are rules!

Well...no. Sorry! I trust you Bruce but we need something to verify length and we need to be consistent.

One way to encourage people to submit fish is to have an place to include non qualifying fish like an honerable mention catagory seperate from the record holders. I don't know how hard this would be computer wise but it would encourage participation. I look forward to it getting up and running with submissions. ewest

I'll get right on it! It will be hard work, but I think I can find the time to chase after another big bluegill. Too bad you've already locked up the yellow perch record for life!

Great idea and site, but, uh, I don't see Iowa (IA) listed anywhere. I know it's easy to forget us, but you remembered Missouri. We gotta be at least as memorable as Missouri....

Sorry missed Iowa for some reason. It will be added once my technician gets back (my wife). I counted 50 states so I thought I had them all covered. Did we add another state I'm not aware of or did I repeat one?

That is a good idea but I want to keep the pics and work to a minimum for the wife who has her plate full as she is a teacher. She gets up in the morning at 5 A.M. and many times doesn't get all her school work done and home until 6 P.M. -- sometimes later. She's usually beat once she gets home. If we add too many pics it may increase loading time substantially too.

But maybe down the road...

You have West Viginia listed twice under Southern states. Wouldn't WV be a northern state?

How are you to keep people from bumping up numbers on their prized fish? I know it may be a simple question. I just know I have heard fish stories before and then you see the half sized mount on the wall one day. Just curious of your rules for us to enter. I know we are all honest here but what if......

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean falsifying weight of the fish etc? If so, you did read where they have to have the fish weighed on a certified scale, with contact info on where it was weighed, so I can verify it? As far as length it must be clearly shown in the picture. Have your read the rules page yet? I may not have had the rules page up yet when you checked out the site.

However as we all know though no system is foolproof. But I will do my best to make it as fair and consistent as possible.

Why not just a photo of the fish on a good, accurate scale?

I would love to catch a nice fish and post it on your site. However, having to chauffeur the fish 25 miles and back to a certified scale rules that out completely for me (and probably lots of other lazy folks).

You can get a digital postal scale at Wal-Mart for around the same money it takes to drive to town and back... around $500.00. Just kidding. $20.00 for a cool little 10# electronic postal scale, accurate to .5% and with a resolution of .1 Oz.

If you'll notice, those fish stories are usually told in crowds of men, and often after a few cans of brew. I don't think you have to worry about 99% of us. The other 1% will probably scam you even with the most restrictive rules, just to be jerks.

I appreciate the site regardless, and will be checking in often to see how many fish it "catches".

The rules are very good Cecil. I did visit them and I believe with honest people here and your rules your site will be just fine. I guess I will have to start fishing soon
