I just learned (I know, took me long enough) to post pictures so I just had to try it. This is me at my pond in Northern Oklahoma.

Work has been snowing me under lately, haven't had much time to post.

Pond is about 5 acres, more or less. Right now it is down to about 3, I can drive the 4 wheeler across about half of it, been a relatively dry summer. We've gotten an inch here and there, but no run-off. Which brings up an interesting question.

I've been catching several bass like the ones here (about 3 lbs) and even some up into 4-4.5 and one 5 lber. When I restarted the pond 4 years ago, I stocked from local ponds, so that accounts for the larger fish. But do I need to worry about having too many larger fish? BTW, BG are many and seem to have no problem producing enough food.

Dave, you aren't far off. I live about an hour west of Ponca City.

ML, the tilapia project didn't get off the ground this year. Emergency trip to the vet for one of the dogs ate up my seed money. There is always next year!

I wouldn't worry about the large bass, enjoy catch & release with them...it sounds and looks like your habitat is awesome, let them max out...all of them over 21". I believe you are entering the hardest time for managing them though. Make sure you cull most of the younger generations coming up, leaving a nice balanced population. They need to be of equal sizes for the food chain, while the forage base remains intact. I would like to be in your shoes, pond management at it's finest !

Dang, Svoberts, I was really hoping to learn some good stuff from your experience. Sorry to hear that. I didn't try it either, for several reasons...as you said, maybe next year.
