Dan,
Don't feel alone in that regard. Every stocking plan I've ever had has changed many times. Heck, I've changed my plan for a Kid's pond at least 6 times in the last two months and still haven't stocked the first fish.
I agree with Mike Otto who said that the planning is really the fun part.
