My Dad passed away 21 years ago today.
All the family met at the farm today to laugh and cry about my dad. He is still my best friend. Mom was there, Me and Sister and all his grandkids. The best part was seeing my 84 year old mother catching bream on a cane pole laughing like a kid on a day she is often so sad
Good day; cool temps, great wife, fishing great, college football. deer season soon.
Life is sweet.

Bob Lusk, thanks for this board

Excellent post sir. 84 years young and still putting them on the bank, I hope you had the camera working overtime to capture those treasured moments.

Bill :

Thanks for your post. It is the best possible proof that this forum in addition to being outstanding for its pond mgt. information is more importantly beyond measure as to the content of the character of those who staff it and post here. I join in Bill's thanks to you Bob for making this possible . In addition , thank you Bill Cody and Dave Willis for keeping our collective thinking sound and science based. You and the forum members combined sense of character are the reason this is the only forum I am involved in. Let us all strive to keep this a very special place. ewest

Sounds like a lovely day to remember your Dad! Gotta love that Alabama football, Roll Tide!

Please allow me to add my sentimental post to this topic.

In February of this year my mother passed away of ovarian cancer. She was 60 years old. I had purchased my land in December, shortly before her passing. She was able to make three trips out to the property and enjoyed its beauty immensly. Unfortunately, the pond wasn't completed by the time of her last visit, but she knew I was having it constructed.

As she was laying in the hospital bed going through her last moments, I whispered into her ear and asked that she visit us all while we're sitting by the pond. She nodded her head and I felt comfortable knowing that she had heard my request.

This weekend I went camping with my wife and 2 year old daughter. We went down to the pond before lunch and I put my daughter in a float. We swam out to the middle of the pond and giggled with each other as we splashed around. It was a perfect day, with bright sunshine and a light breeze that stirred the leaves on the tall trees surrounding the pond. It was made even sweeter when I thought back that moment in the hospital. I knew we weren't alone. I told my daughter to look up at the sky and say hi to Masoo.

I'm really fortunate, as are all of us, to have a place that can bring so much joy and meaning to our lives. The word pond really doesn't do justice to the miracles it shares.
