Well, I just had the whole dug. It's the dry part of the year in Maine. I expect this to fill up with runoff in the next 3 to 4 weeks.

How's it look?

Looking the other way.

Natural kinda spillway out the back. Dam in only maybe 7 feet tall. Very thick. Soil was very clay like.

Looks good. I wish I had trees like that. Time to set some structure before it fills up.

It's just water. I have no real plans to stock it. I may throw some fish in it eventually. I'm not a fisherman.

My wife is a photographer.. It's meant to just be scenery. I will build a small waterfall with some rock, and a pool pump.

Is the plan now to just sit and wait? How long should it take for the water to clear once it fills up? I did some measurements. It's about 155 feet by 65 feet. Of course it tapers down to about 20 feet wide at the spillway. I have a few more pics.. I'll dig them up to post.

With all those trees around, I keep getting an image of a big rope swing on a hot summer day! Looks nice. Good luck, hopefully the fall rains will fill it up soon.

I have thought of the rope swing already.



It's up to about a foot of water. We havent had any rains. I just seeded and rolled all around it. Soil has a lot of clay.... but they claim it will grow grass. We'll see

I don't have any real springs in it. I have a spot or two that are seeping a little. It keeps the banks wet. No running water filling it now though.
