Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations Yee Haw: Chance of Rain 100 percent!

I haven't see those words from NWS in at least 6 or 8 months -- maybe a year! Damn it's dry here! Now if it would only cool off substantially!

I'm glad someone is getting it...it sure isn't East Texas. Even the pastures are turning brown now. I have to start feeding hay, which does not usually happen for another two months, at least. Count your blessings, Cecil.

We're getting a pretty good rain in the D/FW metroplex. Unfortunately, my land is 70 miles Northwest. The radar looks like I got a small shower there. Maybe.

It's teasing us here today have a pretty good line in Mississippi but only a sprinkle earlier. Maybe later this afternoon.

I just hope this isn't another of the 1/8" rainfalls we have been seeing every few weeks. I am now down about 3 feet in my pond and I am feeling a little sick looking at it. On the plus side the fish are still doing great. I couldn't wait so I tossed a rapala a few times for my first bass of the season ( water temp down to 70 ). The little 6 inchers are now cows. I did not want to handle the few I caught long but WOW the low pond just slipped away and I was glowing all day.

I think we are going to finally get some as well. When the last storm came through I went up about 3 of the 4 feet I was down, but since then the ground ( which was sooooo dry ) sucked up most of the moisture and I am back down to 3 feet down as well. I hope we get about 2 inches over the next day or two to help start the seasonal stream again to fill the pond back up.

But on a note for the fish, they all are doing just fine ( except for all of the fatheads ) when the water went down the fatheads were forced to go into the main feeding grounds for the perch and SMB. I am sure they are very happy, but I need to add more fatheads once the water comes back up. Ahhh the fun of pond management.
