For prevention of problems yes � if properly stocked.
We stocked four in a 2 acre pond the second year when chara and water primrose began, but turned out under stocked when bushy pondweed literally took over the pond the fourth year.
Todd Overton recommended that we add ten GC and we are beginning to see progress.
We were too conservative in stocking numbers and waited too long � best to seek a professional opinion in your particular case.
