I would think Meadowlark is correct. Any fish that fights ocean currents is stronger than our freshwater fish.
It makes sense, however, the only one I have experience with is stiped bass.

Time of year plays role. Here in the north, a musky or northern pike can put on one hell of a show in April but in July they tire quickly.
