Goal for the pond - catch and release fishery for 2-5 lb bass.

The pond was built 25 years ago, 1/2 acre, fed with very good river water on a daily basis via pumping system. Hard to say about the stocking as a handful of 6-10" bass were stocked initially and some added now and then over the years as well as numerous removed every year by osprey and herons. The pond is 11' deep at the deepest point and the water is extremely clear, but not clear enough to see 11' deep, so hard to say just how many bass are actually in the pond now - but I am guessing no more than 25-30 from what I can see ranging from 6" to 3 lbs. Seven regularly come to the pellets each morning all in the 2-3 lb. range. Not a lot of cover for the BG, as, until recently had 5 large grass carp in the pond (lost one last spring that got sick) and they keep everything pretty well mowed down.

Threw a curly tail jig the other night and had a bass on about every other cast for half an hour - does that mean they are feeding on other things besides the pellets or I was just getting "reactionary" strikes ? But if they are actually feeding - why do I regularly see the bass just swim right by 3-5" BG and not even pay attention to them ?
