Pretty simple update, now that this thread has been dead for years... As mentioned that this is a several year project I recently bought an aerator for the water that stays in the pond. I haven't convinced myself to figure out a way to seal it yet, though I have a neighbor that just dug a pond and he's going to send his guy to my house next time he's out. I also bought a big ol' backhoe which my come in handy if I want to drain the pond and dig it out a bit more myself. That's all that has happened so far. Too much money spent in other places.

Update again, almost 10 years later!

Hi gang! Not sure who all is around still but I haven't forgotten and my 5 year pond project got back-burnered into a 10 or 15 year project. Man, time flies!

I think there's some funds available to really get into this over the next year or so. I plan to start talking to some pond builders to see if this is something too big for me and what kind of budget I'd need to get it done. My girlfriend is now my wife and she's still on board.

It's been interesting over the past 10 years to see how this pond behaves. All water in the yard drains to the pond, for better or worse, and it fluctuates greatly from barely any water to full pool, then drops pretty quickly.

I'm assuming a regrade of the ponds innerds are in order, then I'll likely line it and start from there.

Hopefully you guys will see this come to fruition. Thanks for all the advice and it's nice to be back, thinking about ponds again.
