Trapping is effective on YBH at small sizes.

I have put minnow traps (simple double funnel) in my creek, baited with dry cat food. I was trying to sample the minnow population, but have caught multiple YBH on several occasions. I believe the largest I caught were up to 5-6" in length.

I suspect with some experimentation you can come up with a more effective bait than what I was using.
