Boondog - Maybe your big bass are eating a big portion of the small LMB. A small LMB 6"-8" long is much easier to swallow than a can lid shaped BG. If I were a 15" plus LMB in your pond, I would be eating a lot of small LMB. Your fast growing LMB of 2lb+ are EACH one is eating fish at a rate of 22lbs of fish per year per bass. 6lb per lb of bass for maintenance weight plus 10 lb to grow to the next pound. About how many 2 lb + LMB are in the pond??
Low egg hatch and low recruitment plus high predation could help explain the lack of 8"-10" LMB. Also maybe the addition of 4"-8" trout taught the larger bass to eat elongated forage?
