If you have at least half pool and some decent weather left (and are chomping at the bit), you could stock forage species. FHM and Gambusia are pretty cheap, GSH (if you are going that way) not much more. You can see how they do; if the do well, you are in good shape to stock sport fish the following Spring.
NOTE: I am not at all familiar with NM pond weather/seasons.
