I think it may take somebody like Bob Lusk to fix the green Washington DC reflecting pool after it has now been fixed.

It'd be a perfect job for a pond management company I no longer do business with - there are no fish for them to kill.

One smart thing the pool management group I heard is doing is using Sodium Carbonate Peroxyhydrate (H2O2) as probably 'GreenClean Pro' to treat green water algae in the reflecting pool. They are also using ozone that is also an oxidizer similar to H2O2. The final nutrient balance in the freshly filled water from the city was very likely the cause of the green water bloom. Maybe bird manure is also adding some nutrients. Killing all that phytoplankton will result in a lot of dead phytoplankton biomass. I hope the pool has a good water circulation and filtration system.

Dump a bunch of TP in there. Cleanup crew and something interesting to look at.

Some Koi or grass carp might just do the trick. maybe some mosquito fish
All the really good ideas I've ever had came to me while I was milking a cow.

From what I understand is water flows through it from the river, so any “fix” will be temporary at best. It’s not a closed system.
IMHO it needs to be excavated 10ft plus deep. Then stocked with native fish to have a proper balance to the BOW. A metaphor for what needs to be done in DC.

There are people there cheering for the algae.
