Still amazes me how our ponds change so quickly.

This was a month ago.


Now the FA has died off (no treatment) and the bushy pondweed and American pondweed are taking over.
BG are making use of the beds I made. Pond is about 2 feet low. If we don't get significant rain by the next full moon the beds will be out of the water.

The pondweed is certainly suppressed around your BG bed.

Did you physically clear it before the spawn? Or is the bed of gravel enough to suppress? Or did you put down some weed barrier fabric before building your beds?

If the latter, then maybe putting down some strips of fabric within fertile ponds to create some weed-free lanes might be a good strategy.

I used pond liner material when I made the bed.
The pond was very low last year when I installed it. There are also reeds very close in deeper water for them when they hatch. Should help with survival rates.
