how old is the pond? It seems very odd that you are not catching smaller bass.

I have a cousin that built a 20 acre bass pond on his farm. They stocked it with f1's and coppernose bluegills. They had problems with winter kill on the blue gill and then suddenly the bass weren't progressing as expected. They did all kind of tricks to try to get a better blue gill population. I don't think they ever broke 5 lbs on the bass. I moved away and haven't been back there in over 15 years but I was there for the early years and there was a lot of disappointment.

Ironically the 2 acre farm pond on my homeplace is 50 years old, I am too young to remember the early days of the pond but I know we had good bass in the 80's and they petered out. By 2000 weren't catching anything over 1#. In 2003 I took 13 1.5 # f1s from my cousins pond and relocated them to mine (7 hour drive, they all lived). After adding them to my pond they just exploded. The size structure in my pond shifted and I have caught some very nice bass over 8 # as recently as just a few years ago. We never had a shortage of blue gill just too many bass.
