Good morning,


Any idea what causes this? Fish appear healthy and fight hard. Just after the spawn but this doesnt look like that.

We caught several with similar looking marks so I am not sure about Herons. Most of them seemed to be larger fish.

I agree with Theo.

That was a stab from a GBH's bill. I have been trying to reduce the #s of BGs in the pond. When I toss one to the GBH, he stabs it & then picks it up & swallows it. That is the location & mark he leaves.

They strike at any fish they can. If to big they just abandon it. I have found dead 12" LMB & 10" BG dead abandoned onshore with that mark.
