My installation to protect my small Saskatoon berry from Deer, height 5 feet.
Information found on the Net, suggests that Deer can jump very high but have poor depth perception and will not jump if they cannot land safely.

Absolutely correct.

Adults jump fences here; fawns crawl under. The latter would worry me, but maybe they only follow their mothers. (?)

I believe that deer also hate "knee-knocker" fences.

If you are surrounding a large garden plot (where the deer perceive a safe place to land) with a high fence, you can put a low fence about 6-8' outside of that perimeter so the deer cannot run and then gather to jump the high fence.

People have posted photos on the internet of deer within their fenced gardens where the fences were very tall. (Maybe 8'?)

The orchard next to us is surrounded by fence at least 8' tall, perhaps 10'.

I have had the 3d electric fence around my orchard for several yrs and have yet to see a deer track inside it, of course this is a beginning orchard and hasnt bore fruit yet, it will probably be a lot harder to keep them out when that happens.

Also the problem is people feed them and are not afraid of me when I leave the house and scream.

Maybe if you start eating some of them they may be more afraid of you. LOL
