Ponds can be kept full from a well, it just all depends on how much water is underground. I have enough here to pump over 1,000 GPM if I want to dig a big enough well and pay the energy cost to run that big of a motor. My well currently pumps 25 gpm and that is enough to help raise the pond level. For a pond I would want to have 50 gpm as a minimum. The other water in your area is at roughly 1125' elevation and at 1120' elevation so if your ground will hold water you should be OK.

I appreciate the words of advice. I am hoping a liner won't be required, but I bookmarked the link. Well sizing if limited by my budget and the fact that this is going to be supplied by an off-grid solar microgrid due to the cost of pulling in power from the local municipality (and some fairly ridiculous clearing requirements they have for service truck access that must be maintained in perpituity).

Once I select a pond construction service and have the test holes done, I'll share photos and some data on what was found.
