I agree. The plan was to ride it out downstairs. The closer it got, the more concerned that the local weather guy got that I trust. So I just bailed. I was going to put the dog's kennel in the truck but it was starting to rain pretty hard so I said the heck with it and just put her in the back of the truck on the floor, and she stayed there. First time she's been in the truck and not in her kennel.
jludwig, my 1st preference is one in the basement. I am not a fan of going outside in the rain and wind to climb down the stairs to a below ground shelter. I know they are supposed to be safe, but I don't like the above ground shelters at all. It wasn't here, but if a tornado can rip up a blacktop road, I don't want to be bounced around inside a concrete boulder. Besides, you don't know what projectiles the tornado is throwing at you too, where below grade you have a much better chance (I think).
