FWIW, to be 100% sure with LMB, the sex determination has to be done pre-spawn, but close to egg maturity. LMB have to be caught, anesthetized, a catheter inserted and removed to see if it contains eggs or milt. If done wrong, the fish could be killed by too much anesthetic, or severely injured or killed by inserting the catheter incorrectly. When you are talking about fish that are at least 2 years old, it gets expensive. What did it cost in time and money to grow that fish for 2 years? Then look at the material cost and time involved to do the actual test.
Cody Note: sexing YP and BG tricky but it is a lot easier compared to that for LMB. esshup knows all this.
