Hey Guys! I know it's been quite a while, but I am happy to let you guys know that we did end up stocking some walleye into the pond! Over the past year and half we've caught a few of the (and threw them back) and they've been putting on lots of weight and length! The crappie size structure hasn't changed too much though. Still lots of small tater chip sized ones, although the occasional 12+ incher gets caught. We haven't gone through with stocking any other predatory fish. The past season we just tried to put a solid dent in the BC population.

Excellent news to see thriving walleye.

Even if they are cleaning up on some of the BC, it might take a while for any "dent" in the population to be readily observable by you.

Have you considered stocking a few walleye every year or every other year (ladder stocking)? That way you have some walleye eating every size class of your BC, except for the largest crappie.

P.S. Maybe post the length and relative weight of the walleye you catch this spring. Some of the actual management experts on Pond Boss might then be able to give you some very specific good advice.

Yea it been great! The plan is to try getting walleye stocked every other year, just working on planning things out. If I remember to take photos and lengths I'll readily post new info!
