You obviously have done your research and have thought this out well. Great job.
My only advice would be to spend the money early. It's a lot easier to build it right than to fix it down the road. Whoever the contractor is...stay on them to do it right. Hopefully they do it on their own but I wouldn't leave it to chance (or just their opinions). Be meticulous about the details.
Our pond ended up being shallower than we wanted because we didn't stay on them in the very beginning.
