Earlier this week I picked up my CNBG from Cecil Baird. These came from a forum members pond here. (Texas). ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/F79XikB.jpeg)

That hump on his head reminds me of learning to fish when I was a little kid. Those older, bigger male bluegill would always have that hump.

That largest CNBG looks suspiciously "frying pan" shaped to me!

How is CB1 doing? Any weights on those two ? Biggest one IIRC was 1#, 15 oz. CB1 retired last summer and those were the last 2 fish that he did. He sold all of his Taxi supplies, and he's not supplying any fish to anybody any more for skin mount competitions either. He's going to enlarge his front pond, and fill in the back 3 ponds this year. I have all his indoor fish raising equipment and it will be set up here. He and his wife bought a motorhome and will be doing some traveling in the summer, and I think he didn't want to have to worry about feeding/managing the 3 back ponds when they were gone. I am not sure when his wife will retire or if she retired from teaching already. His Mom had severe dementia and his Dad couldn't handle her by himself. So between his brother and sister they were able to rotate and keep her at home until she passed away late summer/early fall last year. His parents had an apartment over the 3 car garage there at his place, and the houses were attached by a raised walkway. It was pretty easy for Cecil to go from house to apartment. I have some YP and some genetically tested SMB from Kenny is Cecil's two back ponds that are roughly 1/10th acre each, along with some CNBG from Harbin s. I wanted to see if the CNBG will over winter here and needed a place to keep the YP & SMB apart genetic wise from the fish I have here. . The YP from Kenny are supposed to get up to 19" (that's what he was told what size the brooders grew to).. I'll dig a few small ponds here to keep them in this Spring and move them from Ceci'ls to here when he's ready to start work on his front pond..

How would you like a lake with those badboys swiming around! I talked to a customer and he gave me the OK to bring a friend that was visiting from Va. to his pond to fish. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/uccgOD9.jpeg) ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/xTOAt9Y.jpeg) That fish was 12.5" long. It was released. That was May 2025. Northern Indiana.

That looks like a large HBG ? Absolutely correct ewest! There are HBG, Northern BG and RES in there that are over 2 pounds. I haven't talked to him this winter, but he ice fishes the pond a lot, and keeps very good harvest records.
