Not today, but two days ago, I broke out an ultra light rod with honey worm still on the hook from last Fall, made a cast halfway out into our pond, and immediately "got a bite". A wriggling 7" golden shiner (GSH) had taken the bait. In the 17 years we've had the place, this was my very first fish caught in February.
The 150 or so GSH that were added late last summer as 3" to 4" fish have put on some length. That was the only interest to my presentations that day. Water temp 46 degrees along the south facing shoreline and about a half a foot below the surface. Maybe the YP will be stirring soon.
