What kind of aeration are you using? Did you just start up a diffuser Aug 1? Did you gradually increase the duration or did you just start running it 24/7 from the get go? If so maybe you brought up some bad gases and your larger older fish are stressed albeit a delayed mortality?
Summer is not the time to be first time cranking up diffusion especially 24/7.
What kind of PH do you have? Do you have large dinurnal PH swings?
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
