BJ Nick, just remember we are talking about water temp in the upper 50's NOT air temp. Purchase a swimming pool thermometer on a string, put a knot at 12" above the thermometer. and if you have the depth where you can measure, another knot at 3'. That makes it easy to keep the thermometer at that depth to let it stabilize.
