We are also now at 11” of ice in most spots. Water does not up well when I auger a hole in it to test. Oddly though, when I made a second hole, the water oddly bounced in a strange way in both holes. I may create a path with the tractor to get the ATV on the ice, but it doesn’t seem worth the trouble as we are supposed to have another 3-6” tomorrow evening, and the temps are supposed to drop to -4F with wind, making it absolutely miserable to be out. Then next week a few slightly warmer days with a few inches of snow each day.
Sometimes you just have to give up on the skating.
