Not an expert, but I doubt 10'x10' would create any significant benefit.

How thick is your ice?

Can you put a jon boat with a gas motor onto the pond and "ice breaker" the pond so the snow falls through?

Is the snow still fluffy such that you can blast some clear patches with a powerful leaf blower?

Finally, if you are only going to be able to do small patches of clearing, then I would do a band around the shoreline. If you clear from the edge to a water depth of 3', then any of the sunlight that does penetrate your ice should be falling on your maximum density of photosynthesizing plants.
