I absolutely guarantee that the ultimate problem wasn't dissolved oxygen. That grass carp is your dead giveaway. While common carp may be resistant to low DO for periods of time, grass carp are a different animal. I've seen time and again when DO drops in my ponds that grass carp are one of the earliest to stress, especially the big ones. YOY's and age-1 SBH are considerably more resistant to warm water conditions than age-2 and older. I don't think the heat was the problem.
