Thank you, FishinRod!
I am not going to be able to raise the berms around the pond, it is going to have to be 6 feet deep or nothing.
I expect the pond to be at full pool sometime very early in 2026.
I do not really understand the difference between an aerator system and a fountain system. I am not sure if they work to accomplish the same thing? I see quite a number of ponds around here that just have fountains in them and I am not sure if that’s for aesthetic reasons or for creating a better habitat for the fish.
It would be great to add some minnows and panfish in the spring of 2026, but I am not sure if that’s too early, or if it takes the water longer to be appropriate to support the fish.
Yes, we could potentially have a hurricane event here, but they are very rare. Occasionally, we get big rains and sometimes we will see 4 to 5 inches of rain in a week and I am not 100% sure but I believe the outflow would occur on the shallow end of the pond and I will know more about that once I get the pond full.
The fish are not the primary reason for the pond, but they certainly would be a great benefit.
I know this is not optimum, but I ordered some strips that can test the water and reportedly they can outline several factors in the water, not the least of which is pH etc.
Again, I am taking all of the help I can get and advice and comments or very welcome!!!
