Jim & Jo - Is the pond full of water???. It is a good idea to do an alkalinity water test and have it done by a swimming pool company or a domestic water treatment company. Even a pet store aquarium alkalinity test kit will be a starting point for getting a fairly accurate measure of alkalinity. Alkalinity of the water has a big influence on what amount of natural production the pond will produce, be it plants, critters and fish.
