I’ve seen those in use around here in the Fingerlakes. They look like a lot of fun to use, let alone effective. Lamoka Lake is technically not a Fingerlake, but it is shallow on the northern end. It used to be choked with lilies and weeds, making it unnavigable for power boats. One of those machines cleared up at least 40 acres of area in a summer.
It was actually disappointing, as the plants made for good kayaking on still waters, which my wife and I like to do. Came back last summer and had to deal with water skiing and tubing. Not very kayak friendly.
