In the future, there is no need to sink them. Let them float, they will sink on their own. I put I think 50 over a piece of pipe a few years ago and IIRC they all sunk in about a month. Time to add more next Spring. I just kept looping the trees over the pipe until I couldn't get close enough to loop any more.
