I prefer cedar trees of different sizes. Attach a weight like a cinder block. They last for years. Even better if you can orient the trees both vertical and horizontal too. My pond is less then a 1/4 acre, i cut a meduim size willow tree and pushed it in but honestly its a pita, it kind of cuts my pond jn half and i end up snagging it everytime i fish it.
