Imagine this has been covered, but I don't know the answer; is there a simple/easy way to age a bass?
You can age fish by examining their otoliths (ear bones).
Based on reading past discussions it is not easy, but I don't think it is impossible for amateurs.
I think you can search the archives and find some of the discussions. (I also think members have actually performed that work, maybe Bill Cody and Snipe have mentioned it.)
You may even be able to find a good tutorial on Utoob.
P.S. If you do get serious about aging fish in your lake, I have a nice reflected-light microscope that you can borrow if you and I cross paths in our future travels.
