The only animals that will damage the pond is cormorants, anhingas, and otters (legally I can't tell you to kill them). Pelicans too. No kidding about the Pelicans. I watched a flock of over 200 herd a school of shad up into a cove at Kaw lake and destroy them. One of the craziest things I have ever seen. I wished I would have had my drone to get footage. It was like a football team working through a playbook. They boxed them into the shallows and had a feast.
