It's been a bit. Work has been nuts, started beekeeping, and have not had a chance to devote much time to the fish this year. It's probably a good thing for them as I have not been there to "sample" fish pops for much more than just filling the feeder.

The wifey and I did make it out to the property this past weekend. We spend the majority of our time mowing, weedeating, getting the orchard trees ready for winter, and leveling out the gravel pad rock that had been delivered. I did have a couple of poles in the truck just in case....the stars must have aligned!

A couple of photos from our adventure with the fish. Caught 3 LMB in total. One got a slight damaged gill so it was promptly returned to the water. It seemed to be about the same as the two pictured below. 15 months to the day from initial stock of the LMB.

Fish 1 - 13.5" 1.47lb
Fish 2 - 13.5" 1.53lb

Caught all three of the LMB on a spinner. The fish seem to prefer white and silver at our place.

It was cool, for August in Kansas, and overcast. First bait of choice was a buzbait. We had three LMB explode in the water trying to hit it but all three failed in their attempts. We decided to swap baits and landed a few fish.

Hooked up two additional LMB but they spit the hook in the middle of the fight (barbless hooks).

Along with the LMB we caught a half dozen BG in the 6-9" range.
Also to note....all the LMB seemed to be the same original stokers. We saw no evidence of smaller fish which makes me think they didn't spawn this year.
