I would like to get advice on the design of a new aeration system for a pond that is approx. 200' x 2,200'. The average depth is about 4'-5' with the centerline depth around 8'-9'. The shoreline depth is fairly shallow, 3' or less, for the first 20'-25' out. I only have power at one end (red lightning symbol). My thoughts are to purchase a large pump and run a single 1" pvc in-ground main airline from it. I would trench this line in, then T off the mainline in multiple locations with a control valve and weighted hose leading to each diffuser.
What potential problems do you think this layout may have? What size pump could run 12+/- diffusers in 6'-9' of water depth? Could I hook the output from two pumps to the same mainline rather than using one larger pump? Other thoughts?
