Following, this is a timely & interesting thread to myself as well...A quick background: I live in an HOA, Cooley's Rift, Monteagle TN. Cooley's is located on the Cumberland plateau between Nashville & Chattanooga. Our community lake is a 54 acre, clear mountain lake. It was originally stocked in 2001 with the standard Tennessee template, LMB, BG, CC. No additional stocking occurred again until 2018. Peak LMB catch activity was 2006 - 2010 when 10 pound LMB were being caught but unfortunately harvested. LMB population today is stunted with an occasional 4 -6 pounder being caught.
We have stocked 19,000 CNBG since 2018. Our original, and only, LMB stocking were Florida's. We plan to stock LMB either next fall or spring 2027. My wish is Northerns. Good size potential and less hook shy in our clear water. Northerns are available from an Alabama hatchery 120 miles away who we have purchased the CNBG from with good results.
Thanks to Bill Cody for his exceptional advice on many topics, it is very much appreciated!
