Our property has a thriving gopher population. When we first moved here, the black poly waterline running from our well to the house was frequently chewed through. I'm curious - What was the location/depth of the black poly? I have both well water and aeration airline running through black poly (for 35 and 18 years now, respectively) with no trouble. Of course, no gophers, either. 2-3 feet, very sandy soil. When I was replacing the poly pipe I rented a stand on trencher and the wheels buried several times. I was fortunate that the ground was wet or the side walls of the trench would have caved in. I ended up hooking it to the tractor and pulling it to dig the trench for the PVC pipe. I was digging 2-3 feet. Gophers must be related to Otters!
