Are you old enough to remember when the goal posts were on the goal line? Every once in a while, someone would run into a post & get their bell rung really good!
Very close to where I hand throw feed, I put a fence post in the water with a wooden 1X1X 24" cross piece on top as a perch for water birds to warm themselves in the sun on cold days or dry their plumage. A 16" LMB has been blowing up out of the water taking BG as I throw food. She came 2' out of the water trying to get a BG & slammed into that post. The post shock for about 5 seconds. Haven't seen that LMB in over a week.
