Are you hand feeding or using a thrower?
I know some of the guys that hand feed will occasionally grind pellets at certain times of the year to create smaller bites for younger fish.
You could put some feed in a clean rag and bash it with a hammer a few times and see if the your SBS like the smaller fragments better.
If they do, you might have to buy smaller feed, or one of the feeds with a greater range of pellet sizes. (I am sure the experts could help you on that topic.)
