Good morning
This pond is new i had someone clean up a 2 acrea low spot that grew weeds in the back pasture. It basically is 2 acrea retention pond with elevated berm. they had to stop diggin half became spongy ground. The creek is about 150 feet near the back side.

The pad was so full of crawfish holes the next day it looked like a used dart board.

it is now holding water about 2-3 feet. One 20 foot spot of his berm failed last year. Building it back with thick clay soil.

Curious about the crawfish solution

Might need to be more specific, there's quite a few states that have a Huntsville township in them, I have lived in two myself.
And both of those have huge difference in their soil characteristics.
Unless of course Huntsville is a country I'm not aware of.

I am not understanding the whole scenario, is the dam failing with only 2 or 3 ft of water in it?

How deep is half depth, what was the original depth projection?

Last years heavy rain the pond nearly filled. Depth 8 to 10 feet in sections. That weekend the final day of rain eroded the dam. The pond using a laser level at the runoff entry slope tothe back side of a built up dam give pond depth of 8 to 10 feet.

Since last year it maintains about 2-3 feet on top of all the crawfish holes. Thoughts are the spongy was under water aquifer and now after a year of rain it has settled . Not sure whats really going on

I’m also wet this year at my 133 acre place South of Bowie Texas. Full ponds is a rarity. Went there yesterday and found full ponds with water still running in and over flowing. FINALLY!

We have had some serious storms with rain and high winds in the last week.And, we got another 3.6 inches last night that all ran off. Grandsons used the tractor to pull a broken big oak tree out of the pond. It’ll become firewood. Also have several other broken over big oaks to work on. Looks like more storms coming. OK with me.

Adding here. I have an ancient camper trailer that my son in law hauls to Fort Worth at Christmas. He puts it in his front yard, decorates it and has a sign that says “Santa sleeps here.” Lots of people bring kids by and take pictures. It stays on blocks in my pasture. Wind blew it off the blocks and is on the ground. That has to be redone.

No idea how many busted trees on the place.
