Don't buy aeration for algae control. I have never seen journal scientific research that showed aeration removes nutrients.
Ponds are NUTRIENT TRAPS. You control and minimize filamentous algae buy removing nutrients or by keeping as many nutrients as feasible out of the pond. Algae grows by absorbing the available nutrients. Killing the algae allows it to sink, decay and release the bound up nutrients to restart the algae, decay, and nutrient release cycle. When dead organics do not decay nutrients stay bound in the organic matter that will accumulate in the pond bottom. Bacterial additions promoting more decay from organics releases nutrients. Then where do they go?
Waterfowl in the pond adds more bird poop nutrients. 10 geese make the equivalent fertile manure of one cow. As you now know a nutrient fertile pond is capable of growing a big crop of algae. A good pond is really all about nutrient management
