No RBT in the pond this year, did this to take some pressure off the Hybrid BCP. Did sampling this winter through the ice and caught many thin 6-8" hybrid BCP. Have not found any larger ones, but I know some are present. They are just very slow to feed compared to their peers in the pond it seems. They are still struggling a bit, but we will see what the minnow population looks like this spring. It was very strong last year. YP and HSB and RES are very healthy and growing well, we have had some YP recruitment, so I have been harvesting a few here and there in a slot between 8-10". If I don't see improvement on the Hybrid BCP I will start removing more of them in case they are recruiting and having stunted offspring. I think I should be able to replace their presence with a few more HSB and be just as happy with a RES, YP, HSB pond.
I still have a leak in the pond, working with TJ over the last few years we are going to shoot for a polymer treatment this year. It seems I have a side wall leak as I lose 1-2' of water quickly after full pool, then it moderates down to just above evap rates once it's about 2' low. Hoping for some success there, if not we will be implementing a well and or have someone come out and do some repair and expansion of the pond.
