In a week or so, heading to a ski lodge in Montana. Family ski trip but this 82 yoa, arthritic, old goat isn’t going to be going down a slick mountain on a couple of sticks. I’m still trying to figure out why I’m leaving warm weather for snow and ice.

In earlier times, I climbed a lot of those slick mountains trying to put some hurt on elk and mule deer. Been a long time and I figured on staying nice and warm in Texas. Not my idea but I’m going to enjoy myself seeing that world again without carrying a shooting iron and backpack.

Dave, if you get bored, stop by by Shedhorn Sports in Ennis. You'll stay there for hours looking around, we did. They're the best MT shop with old and long range rifles.

Al, if Charlene knew I was going sight seeing in a gun shop, she would call the whole thing off. I’ll try.

I'd text Charlene but then we'd both be in trouble.

Found some battery heated gloves that I had bought sometime back. Tried to charge the batteries but that apparently didn’t work. No way to check the charge or whether the batteries are good.

Going to leave shortly for my rural property to pick up some serious hunting gloves and jacket. No room for my camo coveralls.

Al, if I buy one more gun, I have to buy another safe.

Editing here: or another wife.

Guv, that is so amateur.

Buy a gun FOR Charlene.

Problem solved.

I have a battery powered jacket. It works pretty well. Arias brand I think.

Just as long as she doesn't sell them for what you told her they cost.

TV says it’s -2 degrees out there Wife and daughter went dog sledding. With the cold, currently -2, I stayed behind. Arthritis is kicking my butt and it’s hitting my lower back, No way I can bump around like that.

We've had some persistent gentle raining these past few days just north of Dallas. So maybe you will come home to a full pond. If so, maybe you will have to make pilgrimages like this more often?

So far, just sitting on my butt at home. I have some arthritis issues in my lower back that got really bad in the cold weather. Back is still hurting but I’m sitting in my own recliner.

Hopefully, your back will feel much better when it hits 105 in Texas this July!

Even though you were too wise to go skiing, I hope you enjoyed some good "family time" on your recent big trip.
