When I was specifically targeting CC, I used deer liver chunks both under a bobber and by jugging. But I catch plenty of them now just using worms/nightcrawler bits under a bobber.

They have NOT been susceptible to fish food lures (Stubby Steve's, Berkley Power Eggs) IME even though they love eating floating fish food.
