Just a thought . Doesn't make the $'s work out , driving 200,300,or 500 miles to pick up fish , but here's my approach . Doesn't save any money , but the pay back for me is tremendous. I invite a Grandson to help me drive , every time I make a fish run . It's a chance to talk about nothing , to eat together without lots of extra ears , to laugh together , to problem solve together. Then occasionally to talk about something that is something , something important to him. The cost of the trip is well worth it , $2.00 or $3.00 per mile . Plus as a bonus , I get a load of free fish for the ponds , as a free benefit of the Road Trip. Just my approach of the cost of picking up fish.
