We got zero essential rain this summer, and this year's pond still isn't at our lowest water level. Normal water level is around 11 acres, but it's close to 7-8 now. My wife has had to hear me moaning and groaning, but there are a few upsides.
As the water dropped, the grass carp are pinched and cleaning up the pond. As CNBG come out of the shoreline cover, the LMB are gorging right before winter. Also, It's easy for me to restock brush piles now that I can walk right up to them, which is easier than doing it out of a boat. Lastly, al the entrances to beaver huts are out of the water, and I can find slides that are above the water line. A couple of the huts have several entrances, so I can pack them up and control when and if they come back to them. Sadly, cormorants still have an occasional heart attack above the smaller pond.
